Religion plays a tremendous in the lives of many Americans. In the past week we have seen Barack Obama split with his longtime spirtitual leader, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. As I watched this drama unfold, I saw many things that interested me. I found it funny how Barack recieved some criticism for being a member of Wight’s Church. Wright made controversial comments that brought bad publicity to Obama. This doesn’t make sense as Barack Obama can’t control what people say. Obama had to make a statement saying he did not support the Reverend’s comments. I think we overreact as a society sometimes while condemning the innocent. Barack Obama had nothing to do with what the Reverend said, yet he still came under fire.
