I recently found an article on CNN.com about a man who kept his daughter as a prisoner in his cellar for 24 years along with three of their children. He kept her as a sex slave. I read this article and I couldn’t help but think how many sick people like this exist in the world. The family has been moved to a psychiatric clinic and they being introduced to sunlight, which the children have never seen. News stories like this defy the extent to which human cruelty can reach. We live in our own worlds and this article will only influence us for a few minutes, maybe a few hours or days. The family will never recover from this, and this man has victimized and brought shame to his entire family.
